are you heading from Jackson to? There are areas in GTNP you can stay, but unless you explore everything, I can make it from Jackson to the south entrance of Yellowstone in a little over an hour to 2 hours.., there is also, the Flagg Ranch along that route, and various campgrounds along the way..
