and I'd try for a cabin at Roosevelt, though at this date it would have to be a cancellation--but they occur. Roosevelt is in the Lamar valley, the heart of the best animal watching in the park. Alternatively, you could do a cabin at Mammoth, also good, also full by now, though early June might give you a shot. The weather may well be cold, even snowy, but it's the best time (in my opinion) to see my favorite place: lots of animal babies, bears out and hungry, wolves ditto, small crowds. I am fond of Gardiner as a place to stay if you stay outside the park, and it's close to the Lamar. (Cooke City is even closer.) Lots of good motels in Gardiner, middle price. My favorite is the Absaroka. In June, the days are LONG and sunny, and the whole park is a rock hound's paradise. Tetons are glorious, but don't short Yellowstone--give it three/four days minimum. Have a blast--and you will.
