You will find more to do in West over Gardiner, but it is a bit longer of a drive to get to the Lamar, which a lot of people like, you will have easier access to the major thermals from the west entrance, it is kind of 6 and 1/2 other...I love the west side of the park, for many reasons.

I find West Yellowstone to be a more comfortable town for visitors over Gardiner, but do stay in Gardiner at least once a year..
