We hiked the Hoodoos trail near Mammoth a few years ago. There is one scary dropoff as you go downhill. It is the only time I've scooted down a trail, and I've hiked hundreds of miles in the Cascades. The problem is that it is straight down to the road on the right, the trail is gravelly and steeply downhill, and it makes a blind turn to the left. That's my memory of it, at least! Coming back up was no problem at all, of course. I wouldn't say I have any fear of heights. My husband and sons had no problem, but they are more sure-footed than I am.
