A couple of us are going to the Old Faithful Geyser Basin around Christmas and are planning on a backcountry ski trip. (We camped and skied around Fairy Falls several years ago and it got to about -40 at night, so we know what we could be in for.) This time we'll be building an igloo when we get to our base camp. My question is: Any recommendations about where to go? We are thinking of taking the snow coach towards West Thumb Geyser Basin and spending three days there before coming back. Any other thoughts about a short winter trip on skis in that area?
