I re-checked National's Website, and put in my May-June '09 dates, and it turned up the full array of car choices and prices that are much more in line with expectations (that is, a tad more than last year, but not so much that it blows me out of the water).
I am beginning to think perhaps they were having Web site problems when I posted that doomy-and-gloom message about rental cars below. I wouldn't imagine they could expect to rent anything at nearly $700 for 10 days!
