: I will be visiting yellowstone for the first time during Labor Day
: weekend and the following week. Will the park be as crowded
: on that weekend as the rest of the year or will the crowds be thinned out?

Hello Judy,

The last two years on our Labor Day trips, the crowds were small and the weather was great, two good reasons to visit the park at this time of year (can't guarantee the weather though). Like Mardell said, a lot of people have to head back home for school, so the visitors are mainly locals but not near as many as the summer season. We did not see a lot of traffic or visitors in the northern area of the park (Lamar) or Old Faithful. It is also nice to still have the ranger programs going on. I hope that helps, we will be back in the park that weekend also, hope to see you there. If I can help with anything else, please feel free to contact me. Take care!

John
