: Winter in Yellowstone : My wife and I are planning on renting
: a snow machine at Pahaska Tepee. We want to drive into the Park.
: We have a place to stay outside the Park , near Cody. We were
: told that it's a 4 hour drive to Old Faithful.
: Questions: Should we stay over at Old Faithful or return to our
: place near Cody? Can we snow machine to Canyon and drive to Artist Point?
: Will cellular phones get work in most areas of the Park?
: Are there enough people or Park Patrols that if we break down,
: we will be able to get help?
: Where do we find out where the warming huts and gas stations are?
: I know there's a warming hut at West Thumb.

Dear Ron:

I have never used a snow machine in Winter in YNP. If I were you, I would go to the NPS web site and see what they say about Winter travel in YNP. There is also some information on this Web site about Winter try to check it out. I do know tht usually there is a warming hut at Fishing Bridge and Canyon Village. I believe there is a warming hut at Mammoth and Norris as well. I hope someone with more experience when it comes to winter travel in the Park. Hopefully, someone with more experience will be able to answer your questions on this chat page.
Sincerely,
Mardell Moore
