2002-2003 YELLOWSTONE PARK WINTER SEASON UPDATE
MAMMOTH TO NORRIS ROAD TO OPEN

Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Suzanne Lewis announced today that the road from Mammoth Hot Springs to Norris Geyser Basin will open to snowmobiles and snowcoaches this morning; visitors should expect reduced speeds on some sections of this road due to thin snow coverage. With the opening, all roads open to oversnow vehicle use are now open in the park.
Even with recent snow accumulations, there is still very little snow on many park roads. All operators are asked to use extra caution and lower speeds in areas where less snow has accumulated for their safe travel.
The road from the park's North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, to the Northeast Entrance at Cooke City, Montana, is open all year to automobile traffic.
All visitors should be aware that due to weather and road conditions, park roads could close at any time for safety purposes.
Visitors are encouraged to call park headquarters at: 307-344-7381 for the latest road and weather conditions.
